A22 Kaisermühlentunnel

A22 Kaisermühlentunnel is the longest city tunnel in Vienna (Austria) with a length off 2.2 km and a daily traffic volume of more than 125.000 vehicles. In case of the number of traffic lines (two side lines and ten ramps) and the construction specifics, Kaisermühlentunnel is the most complicated traffic tunnel in Austria.

Refurbishment under operation in night shifts
The electrical and safety equipment is refurbished under operation. All works are done during night-shifts only with individual line closing. The complete electrical installation was build parallel to the running system.

Challenging tunnel ventilation
In case of the traffic volume, the number of traffic lines and a lot of ramps, the ventilation system is very complicated. With a special developed tunnel ventilation simulator, the control loops for the vans, can be tested during operation, and helps to reduce startup time.

Highest grade of danger—high available system
All Control systems and the communication network is build as a high available redundancy system.

Cutting Edge Technology—SCADA / PLC
